Refeed Day Calculator
without the guesswork.
Diet Break Refeed Window Calculator — Build a calendar from studied diet-break or refeed patterns while keeping calorie prescription and health clearance outside the tool. Uses a focused calculator with visible assumptions. Sensitive inputs stay in your browser.
This is a date organizer for published research patterns or a clinician-defined pattern. It does not calculate calories, macros, eligibility, expected weight loss or medical clearance.
Context matters.
- MATADOR studied men with obesity using eight 2-week restriction blocks interspersed with seven 2-week energy-balance periods; it is not a universal protocol.
- NIDDK recommends reviewing medical conditions and medications with a health professional before a weight-loss program and says not to try to lose weight during pregnancy.
- Eating-disorder concerns or possible problematic low energy availability—such as persistent fatigue, recurrent injury/illness, reproductive changes or declining performance—need qualified assessment, not a more aggressive schedule.

What to know before using the result.
Does the calculator tell me how many calories to eat?
No. It schedules restriction and energy-balance phases from published study patterns or your clinician's plan. Maintenance intake and any deficit must be established individually.
Are diet breaks proven to produce more fat loss?
Not universally. MATADOR reported an advantage in men with obesity, while ICECAP found similar fat loss versus continuous restriction in resistance-trained adults. The studied populations and protocols are not interchangeable.
When should I avoid using a diet-break calendar?
Do not use it to plan weight loss during pregnancy, for a minor, or when eating-disorder concerns, medical conditions, medication interactions or signs of problematic low energy availability need professional assessment.
