Read before relying

Context matters.

  • Table B applies to unaugmented operations. Table C applies to acclimated augmented operations and depends on rest-facility class and 3 or 4 pilots.
  • Section 117.17 also requires protected in-flight rest and limits augmented assignments to no more than three flight segments.
  • This tool does not calculate reserve, split duty, cumulative limits, extensions, deadhead, rest or other assignment rules. The operator and crewmember remain responsible for the full Part 117 analysis.

Questions answered

What to know before using the result.

Does this calculator use the actual Part 117 tables?

Yes. Unaugmented results come from current Table B; augmented results come from current Table C with pilots and rest-facility class.

What happens when a crewmember is not acclimated?

Sections 117.13 and 117.17 reduce the applicable table maximum by 30 minutes and use local time at the theater where the crewmember was last acclimated.

Can the table result clear every assignment?

No. Reserve, extensions, split duty, deadhead, cumulative limits, rest, actual conditions and fatigue reporting require the operator's full analysis.
