Read before relying

Context matters.

  • An estimated due date is not a prediction of the delivery day and does not set appointment, testing or delivery timing.
  • Once the best obstetric estimate is established, later ultrasound findings do not automatically replace it; discuss any discrepancy with the obstetric team.
  • Bleeding, severe pain, fainting, breathing difficulty or another urgent pregnancy concern requires clinical care, not date recalculation.

How this calculation works

A visible path from input to answer.

Date an ART pregnancy from embryo age and transfer date, with equivalent gestational age and clinic-record confirmation. The page keeps the calculation scope and its limits beside the result so the output can be checked, copied or revisited.

Calculation flow
  1. Read the record. The calculator uses Embryo transfer date, Transfer record, Embryo age at transfer, Embryo age in days and Gestational age on and 1 additional field supplied in the form.
  2. Apply the scope. It applies the ART pregnancy dating — ACOG embryo-age and transfer-date method; clinic best obstetric estimate controls reference and the explicit date, unit and counting conventions shown in the result.
  3. Expose the checkpoints. Intermediate rows, warnings and timeline events stay visible; the emphasized row identifies the primary checkpoint when one exists.

Questions answered

What to know before using the result.

Why are 261 or 263 days added to an embryo-transfer date?

ACOG's ART dating method adds 261 days for a day-5 embryo and 263 days for a day-3 embryo so the result matches the conventional 280-day pregnancy scale.

Does a frozen embryo transfer use a different due-date method?

No. The transfer date and embryo age determine the ART-based estimate whether the transfer was fresh or frozen; the fertility clinic's documented date should control.

Can a later ultrasound automatically replace the clinic due date?

Not automatically. ACOG says pregnancies conceived with assisted reproductive technology should use ART-derived gestational age, while the treating clinician decides whether any redating is appropriate.
